This one's a wild/messy one: Cyber giant F5, which serves most of the Fortune 500, said unknown government hackers had 'long term' access to its network:

• stole source code, some customer data
• accessed undisclosed vulns in BIG-IP
• DOJ allowed F5 to delay public notice citing national security

I did my PhD work at UofFlorida which for years worked to become an R1 school with a massive commitment to public Ed. The last twenty years has completely driven that into the ground. Somewhere along the line they lost faith in the possibility of providing high quality instruction/research.

Right, I guess my feeling is that they don't want our knowledge bc knowing the struggles universities and schools face would actually compel them to help. But having a rationale to disengage is much more appealing to some portion of our peers. Ignorance and inaction is preferable for them.

My wife is an elementary school teacher for the last 15 years. I've been teaching at the college level about the same amount. I was recently told by family that they wouldn't "kowtow" to our experience when it came to their knowledge about what was 'wrong' with schools. They knew better.

In a genuine WOW moment, this administration publicly acknowledges (perhaps for the first time) that an ICE officer violated procedure and will be taken off duty and subject to an investigation. This is a step in the right direction — I just wish it wasn't only because of such an awful viral video.
