If you’d like to get up to speed on the issue of old asbestos cement water pipes I’d be happy to chat. According to recent data from Stats Can, B.C. has the most in 🇨🇦 - 4,261.2. According to the age below, they supply water to your fruit orchards.

What exactly are “unknown fibres that resemble asbestos?” If the water ran thru old asbestos cement water pipes, I’d say it’s asbestos. The lab blew me off when I reached out to ask.

South Africa has one of the worst problems on record with old asbestos cement water pipes. When you are living almost half your water due to leaks and breaks, that is a massive problem. @shane555.bsky.social

In 2023, @ctvnews-rss.bsky.social released a map showing 85 🇨🇦 communities still use old asbestos cement water pipes. Stats Can conducted a national infrastructure survey and came up with a partial provincial/territorial breakdown.

History is cool.
When you look at old studies, you will find that 1945 was an important year for Regina. It was the first year asbestos cement pipes were installed in the water distribution system. 80-years ago. The avg lifespan of the pipes is 50-years, on a good day.

Long slate of delegates presents at special council meeting on fluoride in Regina’s drinking water Council was locked into a long council meeting Friday exploring the possibility of reconsidering the fluoridation of Regina’s drinking water.

In 2003, the city paid $5-million for 10 scientific studies on asbestos cement water pipes. The studies were produced in Regina, and focus on Regina. They say “health concern” or cancer. Pls read them. Ask W5.

Thanks. It’s the unknown nature of the complaint to which I am referring. Now we have a city manager on leave for unknown reasons. My point is there are a lot of unknowns.
