04.08.2025 23:59 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Some people also like to throw around the idea the bike lanes are ableist not fully understanding the spectrum of disability. Bikes are actually a form of mobility for some PWD and bike lanes further support that mobility. Drives me bonkers when ppl assume bikes are just for non disabled

A truly crummy walking (or cycling or driving) experience.
All of this. It's technically designated as a main street and I've been advocating on city committees that it should be prioritized for a main street glow-up. If I remember correctly, it's one of the most rapidly developing corridors, currently without city investment. Currently a car sewer...

03.08.2025 01:10 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is very cool wayfinding design. Question(s) for you:
1. Do they also display landmarks somehow? Ie zoo's, tourist destinations etc?
2. This setup seems excellent for inter-city travel. Given the love of signs and lacking street design, would those signs get 'lost' and difficult to follow?

We need to be better at looking at the full picture and the risks and benefits before acting.
It's frustrating to see community initiatives like a tree swing (or benches) removed by the city without meaningful discussion about why.
Community-led/grassroots place making is so important to making vibrant communities and is too often stymied. #yyccc www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
