Has anyone written a coherent, good-faith argument *against* a ban on stock trading by members of Congress, or in favor of the status quo? What is the argument lawmakers use when explaining why they don't want a vote on the matter? Having trouble finding.

Our's is The Sound Of Music, but we're flexible, there's bound to be something on TV that we can sit down and watch, maybe Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, or Toy Story.

Of course, and why not? We, as a family, never did so it's nothing to worry about. Everybody does how they feel fit, that's the point. Getting pressured into something, is wrong. My opinion. We to have one tradition, we watch with the greater family a good xmas movie over zoom. Die hard. That's fun.

My niece has two baby boys, she lives a mile away, but does she ever visit me? Nah.

She can get fucked, she isn't getting nuthin.

As for my sister, a couple of years she gave me something cheap, and stupid, something she grabbed on the aisle next to the check-out, and which was thoughtless, and useless, so she can get fucked this Xmas. She may buy me a cheap box of chocs, or something, but I'm not getting her diddly squat.

The year before, mum gave me a torch, I'd been using a stupid, defective wind-up torch I got from a charity shop, this one has the brightest light on the market, and is TRULY useful. (not this model, but close enough).

Exactly, tho she knows if she didn't get me anything, I wouldn't shed a tear. I think in general one should tread the line somewhere between being a grouch, and being overly generous. I dislike pressure, so confine myself to giving a couple of gifts, and my mum gives me a couple, & that's that.

I buy a lot of gifts, like for my wife, my daughter and my granddaughter. But I give these gifts because they need it or want it.I don't buy them Taylor Swift tickets for xmas, they do not need them then. Or say "that's an early xmas present" Stupid. They never did xmas, why start now?

If gift giving gives you joy, then by all means do it.

Sadly, there is a lot of pressure put on people to dole out gifts and they may not have the money, the time, or the desire to shop. It is a hardship for many parents.

Believe me I know, I'm an old, retired guy who lives frugally and I really hate the commercialization of the holidays. But I'm going to be me and give those little heathens a nice holiday. Have a good day

Giving, and receiving prezzies is a tradition, and spices things up a little, and .. well, why not? But, though we COULD buy a lot of things, I generally wait until the last moment, and trawl charity shops, or buy mum an expensive bottle of swanky olive oil, or something. Something she will like.

I believe in giving a couple of gifts to my mum, or possibly other members of family, if I feel they deserve them - this year they don't. My mum will buy me a couple of things, & an envelope stuffed with cash. I will spend about 20-50 quid on her, and that's that. So.. no, we're not 'materialists'.

My mum will buy me a few prezzies, all of which are absolutely on point - things I didn't even know I wanted. Last year she bought me a headlamp, which is about the best goddam present anyone has ever received, it's fricking awesome.

Yep, I'm happy to say my mum, and I compete with each other, leading up to Xmas, saying 'oh, btw, I don't want anything for Xmas, don't buy me anything, I'm cancelling Xmas this year, my decision is final', or I will ask 'what do you want?' She said she wanted food-stuff, if anything - no ornaments.

I give Tom Cotton this much credit.. that though imo he's a clinical-psychopath, I think he's fairly smart.

You will hate him more tomorrow, I know I will. Trump's capacity to enrage, and sicken me is more infinite than space.
