An Ohio University professor who was recently detained by Israel for trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza has been removed from his only in-person class this semester, according to the university. Tom Hayes, 70, was removed from teaching his in-person, master's-level film class, "Art of Editing," less than a day after he returned to Ohio from his detention in the Ktz'iot prison in the Negev Desert in Israel, he said.

Another instructor resumed in-person instruction of Hayes' class this week and will teach it for the rest of the semester, Pittman said. Students walked out on the new instructor in protest on the first day of instruction, Hayes said. He plans on uploading his lectures to DropBox, so his students can finish his curriculum. He will also continue having online meetings with students to collaborate with them on their projects, he said.
