Reform UK enlists Boris Johnson ally to write party nature policies Exclusive: Ben Goldsmith will work on issues including fishing and green belt preservation to attract green Tories

The fact #Reform are an aggressive climate denying party defines them as being anti nature to their core. Why would you even contemplate this for a moment @bengoldsmith.bsky.social

Centrist ideas no longer wanted in Conservative party, says Kemi Badenoch Party leader tells MPs that one-nation Tories doubting her rightward direction β€˜need to get out of the way’

Sorry, @rory-stewart.bsky.social but while your hope for a new beginning for the #Tories was admirable, and I wish it were so, once again, your judgement as to where your former party is and your hopes for #ProsperUK seem to be way off.

Water firms could be let off pollution fines as part of government overhaul Exclusive: Campaigners claim changes will let companies β€˜off the hook’, as government prepares to unveil new white paper for water industry

Seems the #WaterWhitePaper is an exercise in allowing water companies to continue to pollute by removing fines when they break the law. The polluter pays principle is being disapplied and the victims (customers & the environment) will continue to pay.

Cop30 delegates β€˜far apart’ on phasing out fossil fuels and cutting carbon President of talks urges ministers and high-ranking officials to find common ground as conference nears its end

Political leaders have turned away. Not only via this COP. I attended a regional fisheries meeting this year with the US refusing to approve any mention of climate. This week a council in the Midlands supported a school's climate conference but would not allow mention of CC.

But not until 2027! Even though the industry has known of this proposed ban for three years, and should have been ready, they have wrangled an 18 month transition period out of this government. Once again, the government caves into industry vested interests.

Developers encroach on 2,000-year-old Devon wetland citing β€˜blockages’ to Labour’s housing plans According to planning conditions, Wolborough Fen in Newton Abbot must be protected as groundworks are prepared for 1,200 homes

The government constantly talk of a win-win for growth and nature yet once again portray protecting a SSSI as a "blocker" to development. The more the government say the less we can trust.

Watching the Tories this week, it seems they have learnt nothing in defeat. Their slogan "stronger economy" they trashed the economy, "stronger boarders" they opened them post Brexit. Abolish stamp duty, they destroyed many people's chance to buy a house. Shamless!

I utterly condemn the killing of Charlie Kirk. But the way the hard right in the US & around the world have been quick to weaponise it, use it to double down on authoritarianism, culture wars & intolerance is scary. This marks another moment when democracy & enlightenment values slip from our grasp.
