28.01.2026 19:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sorry, @rory-stewart.bsky.social but while your hope for a new beginning for the #Tories was admirable, and I wish it were so, once again, your judgement as to where your former party is and your hopes for #ProsperUK seem to be way off.

Always good to see an audience that reflects the diversity of modern Britain.
26.01.2026 13:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Seems the #WaterWhitePaper is an exercise in allowing water companies to continue to pollute by removing fines when they break the law. The polluter pays principle is being disapplied and the victims (customers & the environment) will continue to pay.

@therestpolitics.bsky.social Given the contents of the US National Security Strategy & Trump's comments in his Politico interview, calling European leaders weak while leaning into the great displacement theory. Isn't it time we started treating the US as the threat it is? Stuart TRIP+ member Reading

In Europe, a division is emerging: the south and south east grow drier, including parts of the UK. Meanwhile, the North and North East, including parts of the UK, are growing wetter:

Political leaders have turned away. Not only via this COP. I attended a regional fisheries meeting this year with the US refusing to approve any mention of climate. This week a council in the Midlands supported a school's climate conference but would not allow mention of CC.

But not until 2027! Even though the industry has known of this proposed ban for three years, and should have been ready, they have wrangled an 18 month transition period out of this government. Once again, the government caves into industry vested interests.

I agree, but how? If we all shout individually, our voice will be but a whisper. If we raise our voices together, then it will be a chorus of support. How do we organise against this right-wing, self-serving mob? @theguardian.com @restispolitics.bsky.social

The tragedy is not that customers are the victim of this mess @rachelsalvidge.bsky.social. We will barely notice the rebate on our bills. It's that once again the environment is the victim and gets nothing. Rights for the river?

24.10.2025 06:45 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The government constantly talk of a win-win for growth and nature yet once again portray protecting a SSSI as a "blocker" to development. The more the government say the less we can trust.

Watching the Tories this week, it seems they have learnt nothing in defeat. Their slogan "stronger economy" they trashed the economy, "stronger boarders" they opened them post Brexit. Abolish stamp duty, they destroyed many people's chance to buy a house. Shamless!

For too long, we have known this is coming, and yet we do nothing to prepare and ensure our environment is resilient. Instead, we penny-pinch and fail to invest in nature.

I utterly condemn the killing of Charlie Kirk. But the way the hard right in the US & around the world have been quick to weaponise it, use it to double down on authoritarianism, culture wars & intolerance is scary. This marks another moment when democracy & enlightenment values slip from our grasp.
