Yep. I keep stepping away again for days/week at a time. I can't compartmentalize the way I did my whole life until 2020. Before, when I was able to absorb trauma and "not feel it" in order to do my journalism and activism, I was mega-productive. But it took a psychic toll I'm still paying back.

What a pleasure to be able to stump for a truly funny candidate with an excellent policy agenda. Too often the latter is wrapped in "eat your vegetables" messaging, but Mamdani has perfect comic timing.

Humor helps so much in reaching people, esp. folks who've checked out of traditional politics.

Some good news out of Kentucky.

WGA statement on Paramount’s decision to cancel the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Trump goes after everyone who criticizes him, all the time. What I'm saying is that the strategy you are suggesting will not have the result you want.

Obviously it's fine that you disagree. Let's leave it at that.

That's not how ratings -- or the corruptive influences of media consolidation over content -- work. CBS/Paramount did this after the Skydance merger that Trump had authority over.

Not supporting Colbert during the remainder of his time on wouldn't influence NBC/ABC to cancel Seth or the Jimmies.

That's short-sighted. We have many months of Colbert on air to make any joke, lob any critique, he wants with no fear of repercussions. It would be foolish to not support his satire - and his writers' savvy, hilarious work - while we still have it.

The message is stronger if you exit when he does.

Make sure not to cancel until May, after Colbert's final show.

We knew this was a possibility re. Skydance merger, but I'm both devastated and deeply worried as a media critic, comedy nerd, Colbert fan.

The “financial reasons” are so Paramount’s owner can sell the company for $2B. She needs government approval so she’s gonna do whatever 47 wants to make that deal happen 😑

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.
