My dad grew up in Illinois, the rural part, a lot of farmers. He goes for his driving test, passes the written part. It's a snowy, for Illinois, day. The instructor asks , "You drive on your farm?" Dad didn't live on a farm, but he says "Yeah." "Damn cold out there," the instructor says. "You pass."

Reprise (2006, d. Trier) Intriguing film about two young men, both aspiring writers, who get their first novels published about the same time. One of the men is on the verge of ending his happy relationship throughout, while the other develops one and at some point goes mad. It’s excellent.

I don’t buy the solution to this murder; I also found the film too enjoyable to care.
