And that’s the race! This was such a fun race, and everyone did so well—no scratches in either of the Jackpine or MNR! So very proud of @flightriskmushing.bsky.social and the pups—well done to all!

And finally, Q. I hadn’t seen him since he was a puppy so it was lovely to see him again. He did get mad at me when I told him that his vet check was in fact mandatory and made him come out from under the truck for it, but I think he’s forgiven me.

Kestral. Pleased to say he remains The Most. This time, he was displeased because he hates having things put over his head but needed both a shirt AND his harness. It was obviously very upsetting. Never change, you little (giant) weirdo.

Croissant. I freaking love this dog. For some reason she’s decided that I am an Acceptable Human and as a result, I’ve been blessed with gentle kisses and loving leans. Croissant is such a steady dog. She and I had a nice moment of face kisses from before dropping her for the second leg of the race.

Foucher, who led the race with Compass. A queen. She’s steady, she’s solid, she’s a little scared of snowmobiles. She was so well behaved at the start and trotted down the street like a professional.

And now to Melissa’s dogs. First, Compass. Giant and a perfect angel and gentleman. Last night he and Pistol were next to each other on the truck and he was so delighted to have someone new to sniff that he started wagging his tail. He is such a gentleman and I love him.

Next up: brothers Texas and Tug. Texas is blind and so runs with Tug. They are quite enthusiastic and playful with each other and both also are very insistent that the other doesn’t get more attention. They both give good hugs and will boop your eyeballs with their noses.

Let’s start by introducing the guest stars of the weekend. First up, Pistol. She’s a tiny little thing but she is a beauty to watch run. She is very shy and spent much of the weekend with her tail gently tucked. She gives very lovely hugs and kisses when she warms up though.

Well if this isn’t just the cutest thing I’ve seen all week.

It’s so fun to see some of the similarities between the Food sisters.

Today’s misadventure is the old man cat, on whom I discovered a wound this morning. One urgent care vet visit later, it’s not new apparently (which is weird bc I touch his chin and face daily and never felt anything) and it’s infected. And he’s diabetic which complicates healing. 🙃🙃🙃
