So, Sunday Times runs with latest poll showing Farage winning if there was an election now. But makes NO mention of Reform’s collusion with Russia. And this is how democracy gets beaten to death in the dark. Voters are not being told the truth. Reform is given the stage but is NEVER held to account.

My reflections on this positive event, it feels there's a real opportunity for us to shift the narrative on care. We're so keen to create a hopeful future full of abundance for all of us, it's good to see others feel the same.

Capitalism has created a world of bullshit abundance, where we have too much of what we don’t need and too little of what we do.

Join us in Sheffield on 2 October to hear Keir Milburn in conversation about the alternative: Radical Abundance ✨

People say the BBC lack flexibility in the modern digital era, but the launch and roll out of their 24 hour Charlie Kirk News channel in a matter of hours was pretty impressive.

Governor announces New Mexico will now provide free universal child care NEW MEXICOΒ (KRQE) – New Mexico is becoming the first state in the U.S. to offer free early childhood education to every family in the state. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced a universal ch…

New Mexico is getting universal pre school childcare, like the next NYC mayor promises.

Over 60 years since Eleanor Roosevelt called for it, this is key to ending the gender pay gap.

In the UK we now have 30 hours free, but lack public nurseries + proper pay for staff.

Thank you to the @highpaycentre.bsky.social for flagging the disgusting disparity. For additional context it would take unpaid carers a MILLIENIUM, yes that's right 1000 years to earn this much! That's Β£83 p/w for 1000 years!

What a vile individual. This is low even for him. You don’t use recognising Palestine - or anywhere else - as a *threat* to another country. You either have a sincere conviction that statehood is valid and deserved or you don’t. Unless of course you are a hollow vessel with no convictions at all.

If we want a society where we can care for ourselves, one another and the planet taxing the wealthiest is an essential first step.

Chris Mason: Why Labour had little choice but to suspend Diane Abbott again Labour appearing consistent is core to Abbott's second suspension, writes the BBC's Chris Mason.

Anyone else as mystified as I am by the wilful misreading of these statements by Diane Abbott by the BBC.
In interpretation of meaning a basic principle should be to understand the context for the speaker.
Does anybody believe the UK is now β€˜colour blind’?

I think this a wonderfully thoughtful piece. I think nuance and complexity in all its forms is being squeezed out of discussion and policy making.

UK drivers warned of soaring charges to drop off passengers at airports Most airports charge up to Β£7 for a brief stop and 11 of the 20 biggest have raised their fees, RAC analysis shows

Fuel duty has been frozen since 2010, and you can now receive Β£3,750 off a new electric vehicle courtesy of the government. Drivers have never had it so good.

And, finally for @resfoundation.bsky.social to have a panel with no lived experience voice of care on it is a mistake. If you want to change that in the future. Give us at @carefull.bsky.social a call.

There are some really progressive ideas like four day weeks, UBI, UBS & recently read Universal Care Income. If we are to truly help those with a relationship to care we have to recognise a wealth tax will help fund many aspects of life that we need.

17.07.2025 09:16 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There is an acceptance that our economic system is absolutely fine and in no way contributing the hard lives disabled people & carers experience. The goal is still "get people back to paid work" but exploration of progressive work & social security ideas.

17.07.2025 09:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The language being used is problematic - there's nothing "informal" about families who are unpaid carers. Care is foundational and state systems will never replace all the elements & connections that carers hold.

17.07.2025 09:16 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm watching this event. A few thoughts - this may end up a thread.
I've worked in this space a long time and I could be watching this 20 years ago. David's points in particular are outdated - his point about "weak families" when referring to non-nuclear families is deeply disrespectful. 🧡#carers

β€˜An enormous scar’: the battle over solar farms and pylons as Reform UK takes aim at net zero In the fourth part of a series, we look at how climate orthodoxy is coming under fire in Lincolnshire

A reminder as to how the government and GB energy are blundering in policy amd political terms. Adopting an investor and industry led approach means wealth is being extracted and too little public/community/citizen ownership. Stokes anger.

Here's a snippet from our Exec Director @heidichow.bsky.social speaking on the opening panel.

"Climate finance is a joke" its inadequate for countries to address climate change, it's often in the form of loans. Trapping counties in a debt cycle.
