03.08.2025 21:26 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That sums up the novel nicely ๐
31.07.2025 21:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Agreed. It was my first Chaosium game, and it affected every game I played after.
31.07.2025 15:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A very fine book, deserves a very fine cover.
31.07.2025 11:43 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Nope, on account of the text is "baked in" to the art. I _could_ fix it, but I doubt there is much interest.

Could you help us out? It's been one of the quietest months in a decade, and partly I believe it's because people don't know we exist! Hi! I'm Annie! I run Bad Squiddo Games! We hand sculpt & hand cast 28mm scale models of women, critters, scenics & occasionally a man!

30.06.2025 10:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Amazon and Jeff Bezos are a parasite on our economy. They don't pay enough wages, so we subsidize their employees with our taxes. Also environmental and financial costs of making it easy to buy plastic shit no one needs, and sucking money out of local economies. Amazon is a net negative for society.

29.06.2025 18:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, but you wouldn't post most of those anyway. I can't count how often I saw Carry on Screaming, but it hardly registers in my head as a piece of art.
29.06.2025 18:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yes, the scale of it. Also how she uses paint. There is a painting of a woman's back with strap marks from her bra, pants & tights. She literally gouges the paint away in those areas.
29.06.2025 18:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm not usually some one who goes back for a second look, but I must have done the whole exhibit 4 or 5 times. I think I was on the verge of tears the whole time. It seriously made me rethink what I want to do with my art.
29.06.2025 18:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Get down and see it. It's fucking fantastic.
29.06.2025 18:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Another of Savilles portraits, of a young woman. Loose line work is covered by softer pastels then almost fluorescent pastels are deposited on top. But the eyes are like pools. It is hard to tell where sclera gives way to iris, and then to pupil.
But her newer work has softened somewhat, still unsettling for the most part, but warmer and less clinical. But it's the little things that blew me away. The translucency of teeth, or the depth of the eyes. How the sclera merges into the iris. Superb
29.06.2025 18:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Jenny's work has always impressed me, ever since seeing some her early work in the 90s.
Her earlier work often depicted bodies, especially her own, as voluptuous but also like slabs of meat. Their clinical nature, reminded me of forensic photography. Bruised & bloodied, but beautiful.
A portrait by Jenny Saville, in oils on linen, over drawn with pastels. It shows a portrait of a young woman, her lips seem almost be stitched closed using bright pastel wax. Her eyes, like almost all of Savilles' portraits, are deep and haunted.
I've been feeling down for some months. Just not happy with where my art is going. So I went to see the Jenny Saville show at the NPG. Damn that woman can paint. No one can make a picture both alluring and horrifying at the same time like her.
