Did You Know: Sotha Sil got Azura, Boethia, Hermaeus Mora, Hircine, Malacath, Mehrunes Dagon, Molag Bal, and Sheogorath to agree to stop directly meddling with Nirn? It is not known what he offered or threatened them with to get them to comply to this Coldharbour Compact.

I like the Hostile setting so much, but the Alien system is just awesome. I compromise and run Hostile setting with the Alien rules, lol (and often convert Mothership adventures for it for maximum "all the best things")

The drow (or droenar, as we call them) bind their ancestors into their own skulls, which they recreate their ancestor's faces in clay over (see the real world "cult of skulls" from the Levant for the inspiration). These act as guides, familiars, and protective spirits.

Love the Eberron drow. In our Eberron, we've adjusted all our elves to share some form of ancestor worship as a common thread. The Aerenar are largely unchanged, but the Valenar we gave a culture of heroic ancestor worship in which they can mantle their ancestor and draw on their strength and skill.

Love the nuances that the runes and passions give the players (my group are all heavy roleplayers already, but they help give them an even better scaffolding for basing their actions) and I've been really pressing them the last few sessions.

Her Fire/Sky, Truth, and Honor are all over 80, and her Love (Family) is only 75, so she's playing up her passions/runes and being uncharacteristically cranky and rushing things, which is fun.

Campaign started as SSiS and now CotD adjacent, lol. She is also the leader of the Company and overwhelmed

My wife's Yelornian is currently torn between rushing back to camp to be with her wife for the birth of their firstborn and continuing on to do the time sensitive task they'd agreed to for the ducks. She's already had to miss Yelorna's High Holy Day.

MEMO:

I do not β€œLOL” very often, but I did once get to see a matrix celebrity famous for his misogyny act aggressively toward a tall woman with red hair once.

The woman was Hestaby.

I was still β€œLOL” when the rest of the restaurant started screaming. -L

In our November outing, Marty enthused about Dragonbane from Free League Publishing. Here he is talking about the Dragonbane Bestiary supplement.

I must admit, I do prefer matte paper over glossy.

The Kech Shaarat, or Bladebearers, are the largest hobgoblin clan of Darguun. Their possession of the Sword of the True King means they wield outsized influence among the Dhakaani clans compared to their actual might.

This is my small PSA to let you all know that I don't only design mice piloting mechs. I also draw pirate rats!!
A new Mausritter Pirate adventure coming out next week!

Griffin Mountain, one of Jennell Jaquays' RuneQuest works, is why I play RPGs today. In 1984, I'd got bored with them. But reading that sandbox, with fascinating places and best of all, NPCs with personalities and their own agendas blew my mind. It opened my eyes to how interesting RPGs could be.

The core 3d6 engine is great though, for sure, and nothing comes close to the martial arts subsystem that I've ever found.

Definitely one of my all time faves and a huge inspiration, but not the perfect game for me.

Yeah, its flexible, for sure. Its also more complex than I find useful, personally. I've found that I disagree with the core idea of Hero that stating everything out in such granular detail is helpful. I don't know that it is.

I haven't run Hero in over a decade. Mostly fell out of love with the highly detailed an rigid powers. Games like Ars Magica and Mage opened my mind to more freeform powers and I found myself gradually having the same reaction to Hero as I was D&D. I've mostly settled into the BRP family these days.

TOR has that same community oriented, local vibe that RQG has, complete with seasonal adventuring. Two of my absolute favorite systems and two of my absolute favorite settings.

I can't wait for the Sartar book and revised core book for RQG

Most modern fantasy is, especially ttrpg settings. An ancient super civilization that explains all the convenient ruins full of magic items and monsterous critters.

Its been 5 years since I played D&D, and 7 since I ran it. Those were the only times I played 5e. Before that I played Pathfinder the last time in 2012 or 2013. I also don't miss it. The closest I've come is Dragonbane.

This month marks 10 years since I ran D&D.

This month also marks 10 years since I decided to run 7e Call of Cthulhu.

I don't miss D&D at all.

I really like the step dice version of YZE, honestly. Maybe its because I played Savage Worlds a bit, but it clicked pretty fast for me. I've thought about trying it in other YZE games like Vaesen, just to see how it shifts the feel.

Your skills can go over 100, and you can get an allied spirit. In 2e, iirc, your rune spells could become reusable, and easier DI. I don't have as much exposure to 3e, so not sure there. Yes, it was a power boost. And it was also an in world thing. That's what Tweet was saying in the interview.
