09.08.2025 16:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0When I shared how the chair of Florida Grand Opera's board earns her wealth building concentration camps like Alligator Alcatraz, I received admonishments about how we can't afford to be partisan about where opera funding and leadership come from.
Her day job: www.miaminewtimes.com/news/fiu-boa...
I don't know who needs to hear this, but opera as a genre will survive without the financial backing of fascists.
If opera can't survive without the financial backing of fascists, let it die.
But it can. Kick the fascists out and build a new, fascism-free infrastructure.

07.08.2025 20:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I see no reason at this point to imagine that there is a realistic electoral solution.
04.08.2025 22:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Exactly.
Meanwhile, the politicians currently in charge break every law that they find inconvenient. We need a solution for that, and I wish the Dems could imagine solutions beyond applying the laws that the fascists are intentionally breaking, while continually weakening the judicial branch.
It drives me bonkers watching Warren, Schumer, and a handful of other Dem senators stand up, describe and condemn the situation, and imagine that will effect change.
We need them to actually *do* something. Or tell *us* what actions we can take that will have a shot at success. Voting won't cut it.
And she is exhibiting her own courage exactly how?
04.08.2025 14:36 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0This image appears as it does in an actual Equinox ad, with the text COMMIT TO SOMETHING overlaid. I do not know what we are actually looking at, but it appears to be a cis woman enduring numerous beauty treatments and plastic surgeries simultaneously while on an illuminated bed of nails.
RESISTANCE, PART 1: GRAVITY

Resistance training is a dance with gravity. Practiced mindfully, it can enhance the quality, power, range and expressive potential of all our movements.
Photos are from Equinox's current Commit to Something marketing campaign.

If thereโs no school, thereโs no discussion about free school lunches.
Which is a backwards way of saying I agree with you. I agree with you.

My working assumption is that the ones who warn of pedophiles lurking around every corner are themselves the pedophiles. Trump included of course.
Simply put, if you are using AI art in the name of "advocacy", you are doing advocacy wrong.
Or you are advocating for something other than the thing you think you are advocating for.
At this rate, Burger King is gonna change their jingle to "BK, have it your way, whites rule!" by September

"Electable" in this sense means you've sold your soul while somehow convincing yourself that you are still for equity and democracy. While making scapegoats out of the trans community.
I agree. If you're willing to legislate the dehumanization of one marginalized population, you are willing to legislate dehumanization, period.
Liberty and justice for all means *all*. Not "everyone except the trans people".
42. The ADA was built for capitalism. It allows private entities to claim โundue hardshipโ if an accommodation costs too muchโbecause profit is always the highest law. The reactive model ensures universal design and accessibility never happens.

They passionately seek confirmation bias.
Eventually Trump will find a way to feed them a sufficient quantity of it.
Training for functional strength is one thing, training for size & definition without concern for function is something else.
I have heard stories of competition-winning bodybuilders who lack the range of motion sufficient to wipe their own asses and need someone else to do it for them.
I've been a fitness trainer for 20+ year. "No pain, no pain" is counterproductive.
Go for a *mild* discomfort that's sustainable throughout your sets and reps while maintaining good form & well-modulated breathing throughout the workout.
Max discomfort/pain leads to rigidity and reduced ROM.
GOP: we are the party of dehumanizing everyone who is not a straight cis white dude, vote for us
DEMs: we are the party of dehumanization lite, just the trans people and the migrants who don't make meaningful contributions to our economy for low pay, vote for us
