i am not sure if this reflects actual dynamics of attention mechanically but the possibility of intentional novelty seems interesting? top-k/temp may impose heavy constraints but if latent space continuously differentiable you could identify unmapped directions and explore new concepts intentionally

imho it is somewhat hypocritical how imperial and temple power centers aura-farm the New Testament while steadfastly ignoring its pointed critique of… imperial and temple power centers. not to mention the open hatred for the sociological content of the gospels (feed the hungry?? you confused child!)

praying there could be a hope for pulling dems in congress away from collaboration in any case but yeah i think structurally it will demand something like DSA hostile takeover of dem strongholds and/or mass enlightenment (which really shouldn’t be discounted at this point imo)

we almost got a genuinely-woke followup to last jedi (duel of the fates) but out of craven cowardice they killed it and gave us rise of skywalker instead

Email spoofing - Wikipedia

baseline smtp is notorious for permitting senders to forge the origin address to ~whatever they want. there are some mitigations available today, eg you could use certs, but not broadly adopted. (not expert but have worked in cybersecurity r&d for several years...)

there are some strong parallels to ‘they thought they were free’ — even for intellectuals it can be hard to see what’s happening until you hear your children complaining about ‘Jewish swine’ and realize in a flash you have been burning in hell without realizing it at all. “One had no time to think…”

many other mask-off moments were hinged with plausible deniability or procedural ambiguity; this at least stands a chance to inspire at least a bit of retrospection in news consumers even if just unconsciously as it were (‘oh, wait, was all that new right xenophobia actually based on hitlerism..…?’)

Always loved this (from Hamlet II.1)

POLONIUS: …and there put on him
What forgeries you please; marry, none so rank
As may dishonour him — take heed of that;
But, sir, such wanton, wild, and usual slips
As are companions noted and most known
To youth and liberty.

I do like the idea of having to put on socks/shoes/boots in order. This may be overgranular but could boil down to stackable slots and tracking object handedness? Could be neat to have a comfy bonus with socks. Also: five magic rings per hand/multiple necklaces would be such a neat customization opp

language without communicative intent (psychoanalysis? mysticism?) seems better than communication without intellection (prayer? advertising?) but clearly the worst of all worlds is intellection without content (mathematics)

Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice… and the deep fog of misunderstanding will be lifted from our fear drenched communities, and in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty. craven and cynical philosemitism from white nationalists is structurally indistinguishable from virulent antisemitism but it gives a lot of people a fig-leaf to hide their shameful hatred so who’s to say if right or wrong

sure, I agree with you for the most part! it is pretty plain in the text even — Kallipolis is ironic metaphor for social structure of the drives/“spiritual multiplicity”

imo I do think Plato envisioned an activist and experimental role for philosophy in polities/social policy formation. You don’t necessarily have to believe the seventh letter; Callicles could be an author stand-in. But Kallipolis is bottomless irony and clear metaphor for social structure of drives.
