Congestion charge could be brought in by back door, claims MSP Edinburgh could be landed with a congestion charge introduced by the back door, a Lothian Tory MSP has claimed.

Scaremongering by the pro-congestion Tories. You’d never guess there is an election around the corner πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Fantastic team effort on the doorstep with Daniel Johnson MSP this morning. No love for the SNP or their tired and out of touch Government in Buckstone that’s for sure!

Route for third Edinburgh tram line unveiled The detailed plans show Edinburgh's south suburban railway being used with a new connection to the existing route on Leith Walk.

I delivered a speech to the Rail in Scotland conference this week on the β€œFuture of Mass Transit in Edinburgh” the concept I presented seems to have taken on a life on its own 😬

I agree there is much to do on footway improvements. Last year I doubled the carriageway & footway budget to Β£26m and I plan to do so again this year. It is starting to make a difference but the problem I am tackling has been a decade in the making.

🚨Weird Green Motion Alert 🚨Chas Booth just can’t get over the fact that I’ve done more to encourage cycling in Edinburgh in 4 months than he’s done in 40 years! A reminder that this service has been introduced at no cost and no risk to the taxpayer 🚲

Encouraging to see plans being discussed to use a future visitor levy to help fund the long-awaited George Street revamp. If approved, it’s a chance for visitors to help support better public spaces and long-term investment in Edinburgh.

I think it was done to wind up the Green’s if I’m honest. It is a tax free enterprise zone. If 16,000 people find well paid employment it’ll be worth the risk to the exchequer. If they don’t it won’t.

I’ve always been uncomfortable with the tax incentives in this deal, but backed it on the promise of well-paid, unionised jobs. This is a good first step β€” but as they say, the proof will be in the pudding.
