Christina McAnea on Times Radio describes how UNISON fought back over the transfer of NHS staff into subsidiary companies, telling ministers β€œwe will fight you everywhere this happens… Thankfully they saw sense and listened to the unions.”

This is the new leader of Kent CC.

People need to think carefully before sanewashing this dangerous nonsense for its "whacky fun" or "camp energy". To paraphrase Goldblum: "Oooh! Ahhh! That's how it always starts, but then later there's running and screaming."

Good job @ayeshahazarika.bsky.social.

I love the NHS but it’s completely absurd to be prescribed fairly urgent meds at A&E only to find that the hospital pharmacy is *shut on a Sunday* which then requires you to drive around multiple supermarket pharmacy counters in vain search of this elusive medicine before everything shuts at 4pm

@ayeshahazarika.bsky.social cannot believe the Reform Head of Kent Council has refused to distance themself from the covid vaccine being linked to Royal Family cancers live on your Times radio show. Completely irresponsible attitude.

Ian Dunt;

The commentary on his first year will be largely damning. But there is still every chance that Starmer's better elements will prevail:
seriousness, diligence, purpose, competence.
We should hope very strongly that they do. They remain the best way of defeating populism and putting Farage back in his box.

Ayesha Hazarika;

Labour MPs desperately want to Starmer to succeed because the alternative is too terrible to even contemplate. They want to be involved.

They want to help shape policy. They are younger, more independently minded and want some agency. And that isn't a bad thing - quite the opposite.

This should be a moment to try to build a new modern culture in the Parliamentary Labour Party. There is a great Labour team that is willing and able to be mobilised which includes MPs, Mayors, peers, council and trade unions leaders and way beyond. But that team needs to be built with respect, some charm, time and genuine inclusion.

Starmer loves his football and knows that individuals don't win championships, teams do.

Make Labour politics a team sport again and save the fight for the real opponents who, right now, are getting a free ride.

Inside Labour is a hard-working, decent party wanting to make a difference. They need a chance to sort themselves out. Trying to please the right fails us all and makes it far too easy for Farage.

Fair from @iandunt.bsky.social then

"That woman was inciting violence. She is free to think her horrible, horrible, racist thoughts. That is fine. What she isn't allowed to do is go and incite violence."

🧡Spoke to @ayeshahazarika.bsky.social earlier about the two child cap & why, leaving aside the moral case, I think the political case for scrapping it is stronger than appreciated. It's a good e.g of where headline polling only tells part of the picture & obscures more than it reveal

Baroness Hazarika, "Nigel Farage is a political influencer. He's in this great sweet spot where it doesn't matter what he says on policy because nobody is doing massive deep dives into what he's saying on policy"

"It's about vibes and dissatisfaction with the big two parties"

It’s definitely gory but not scary in that β€œcan’t sleep because I’m on ghost/monster alert” kind of way. I’m quite squeamish & didn’t find it too bad. In fact, it’s a visual feast. I think you could watch alone.
