You can never say Harrell doesn't love this city. Look at this stellar impression of the Mariners' playoff odds in '23 and '24.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

I like when people tell me a post car dependence USA is "never gonna happen"

The way I see it, if we don't move past car dependence, there will be no USA. So it is inevitable either way. We must adapt or we will perish.

Q: Why don't urbanists seem to care about gentrification?
A: There is an observable trend of whiteness in urbanist spaces. It reminds me of the twitter truism "gentrification starts with a bike lane." It never sat right with me and I think Doug put it very well when he said safe streets should be...

These are not quotes or even paraphrasing, but rather just what I was able to surmise for myself from the great replies from the hosts.
Q: I was hit by a car. What event radicalized you?
A: The anti-car approach to urban design is not radical, it should be presented as common sense

This addictive game is like β€˜SimCity’ but for transit nerds The goal of β€˜Subway Builder’ is to move people from A to B. Some believe it might just start a transit revolution in the process.

Good review of the new game Subway Builder. Warning: The game is not based on real US construction costs, because, in the designer's words, "it would have made the game unplayable." www.fastcompany.com/91421609/thi...
