I can imagine at least five of our classmates that would have used a disability to get more time not to mention our classmates that should have used them.

Remember those days of Fox in the early 00s when the shows either started in August and went on a long hiatus or started in November. (Man why do I remember that break in S1 of The OC for baseball.)

It sounds crazy but I promise you: if you just put your phone aside and read for half an hour each night before bed, it will change your life.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, itโ€™s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earthโ€™s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Merger approvals really have been a huge area of vulnerability. Itโ€™s also the key fault line in the matter of the law firms that caved

Oh it might have been the booksellers at the B&N or other places, which felt so odd as they were selling the hell out of a certain magical series. I don't have that same feeling now when I go into a bookstore for sure.

Thereโ€™s no reason to have been annoyed by them when they came out, but I remember it as I was getting back into reading for pleasure in those days. It just make me frustrated as a reader to be sort of dismissed for what catered to my interests.

Iโ€™m not as into looking into them as others, but thatโ€™s the feel I had from ages ago when all the LitFit people bemoaned SatC and Bridget Jones when they werenโ€™t strictly romance (aka a bodess ripper).

All fair. I just get annoyed at what is out there and how often LitFit has to put down every other genre.

I hate that LitFit is just the moniker of non-romance, SFF. Sure there is good stuff there but also just annoying white men.

There's a great book about how & why MTV moved out of the music television business:
"Millenials Killed the Video Star: MTV's Transition to Reality Programming" by @amandaannklein.bsky.social
Highly recommended, even if a Gen X'er like myself finds the devolution depressing.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge's got the Kawhi Leonard deal with Amazon. We're never seeing a minute of this series.

Did you used to make LiveJournal icons? Do you still have some of the ones that you made? I'm looking to include more icons in the second print run of my LiveJournal Iconic zine and would love to see yours!

Creative Counsel Law

@creativeatlaw

Sam Altman just confirmed what lawyers have been saying for over a year: There's no legal privilege when you use ChatGPT.

So if you're pasting in contracts, asking legal questions, or asking it for strategy, you're not getting legal advice. You're generating discoverable evidence.

No attorney-client privilege. No confidentiality.

No ethical duty. No one to protect you.

It might feel private, safe, and convenient. But lawyers are bound to protect you.

ChatGPT isn't-and can be used against you.

Another reason that using chat GPT is worse than simply not having a lawyer. If opposing counsel finds out you've been using chat gpt, they can request your logs and find out everything you've been saying. You get bad advice *and* you are creating discoverable evidence that can be used against you.
