I’m proud to announce I secured over $1 million in Community Project Funding for research equipment at Samuel Merritt University’s new Downtown Oakland campus. I’m committed to fighting for federal funding that advances our city, invests in opportunity, & says YES to great health care and education.

This bill supports the hiring of transit support specialists trained in crisis response and deescalation to make public transit safer for all. As BART Board President, I pioneered this program -- and know that we can increase transit safety across the nation with the help of transit ambassadors.

I was so proud to join labor, transit, and community leaders at the 19th Street BART Station in Oakland to announce my new bill - the RIDER Safety Act!

The cruelty of this administration knows no bounds, but I am doing everything in my power to ensure that every person recieves the support, resources, and dignity that they deserve.

The administration terminated $2 billion in funding for addiction and mental health programs nationwide, including 13 grants in CA12.

I contacted Secretary Kennedy demanding the administration reinstate the funds.

The next day the funds were reinstated, including every single grant in my district.

We must all stand in solidarity and demand the immediate release of these journalists. Donald Trump told us he would put troops on our streets, arrest journalists, and violate the Constitution. He is doing exactly that. And I will continue to fight it with everything I have.

My 3rd bill passed the House last week! I spoke on the House Floor in support of my bill, the Main Street Parity Act - which will modernize the law to ensure small businesses in special purpose properties (like bowling alleys, car washes, & funeral centers) are subject to EQUAL financing standards.

…I am working with my colleauges in Congress to find real legislative solutions to end this terror. We will continue to work to protect Black, brown, and immigrant communities in the East Bay and across the country.
