07.02.2026 18:06 β π 24 π 9 π¬ 2 π 0It was wonderful to join the Oakland Chinatown community last weekend for the annual Lunar New Year celebration.
May the year of the horse bring you and your family joy, prosperity, and good health.
Good luck to the East Bay's very own Alysa Liu as she competes at the Olympics! Team Simon is cheering you on from Oakland!
06.02.2026 19:10 β π 20 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0Improving transportation is critical to reducing commute times and increasing quality of life in the Bay Area, and the RIDER Safety Act is a great first step (2/2).

05.02.2026 23:58 β π 12 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0This week, House and Senate Democrats held a hearing where we listened to devastating testimony from American citizens brutalized by ICE.
As Members of Congress, we must use every oversight & legislative tool available to dismantle abusive enforcement practices and rein in ICEβs unchecked power.

04.02.2026 15:27 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1I recently introduced the RIDER Safety Act!
We all know that safe and reliable public transit keeps our communities connected --getting people to work, school, and more... (1/2)
I voted against funding for ICE today for the second time.
The East Bay has made clear at the Alameda County and city level that we will hold the line against a violent ICE force and support our immigrant communities β I will continue to hold the line and our values with my votes in Congress.
β¦how elected officials can continue to support immigrant communities, and housing in the Bay Area and how I can best address those issues to serve the people of CA-12 going forward.
Thank you to those who came out to share your thoughts and stories, THIS is what democrarcy looks like. (2/2)
This past weekend, I hosted my first "Coffee with Your Congresswoman" at Kinfolx in Oakland, so I could hear straight from you about what you and your family are most concerned about. We talked about the Trump Administration's overreach and abuse of government agencies⦠(1/2)
03.02.2026 18:14 β π 36 π 7 π¬ 3 π 1Iβm proud to announce I secured over $1 million in Community Project Funding for research equipment at Samuel Merritt Universityβs new Downtown Oakland campus. Iβm committed to fighting for federal funding that advances our city, invests in opportunity, & says YES to great health care and education.
02.02.2026 18:42 β π 17 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0This bill supports the hiring of transit support specialists trained in crisis response and deescalation to make public transit safer for all. As BART Board President, I pioneered this program -- and know that we can increase transit safety across the nation with the help of transit ambassadors.
02.02.2026 01:47 β π 14 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0I was so proud to join labor, transit, and community leaders at the 19th Street BART Station in Oakland to announce my new bill - the RIDER Safety Act!
02.02.2026 01:47 β π 29 π 6 π¬ 2 π 0The cruelty of this administration knows no bounds, but I am doing everything in my power to ensure that every person recieves the support, resources, and dignity that they deserve.
31.01.2026 23:19 β π 34 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0The administration terminated $2 billion in funding for addiction and mental health programs nationwide, including 13 grants in CA12.
I contacted Secretary Kennedy demanding the administration reinstate the funds.
The next day the funds were reinstated, including every single grant in my district.
We must all stand in solidarity and demand the immediate release of these journalists. Donald Trump told us he would put troops on our streets, arrest journalists, and violate the Constitution. He is doing exactly that. And I will continue to fight it with everything I have.
30.01.2026 23:49 β π 59 π 13 π¬ 3 π 1My 3rd bill passed the House last week! I spoke on the House Floor in support of my bill, the Main Street Parity Act - which will modernize the law to ensure small businesses in special purpose properties (like bowling alleys, car washes, & funeral centers) are subject to EQUAL financing standards.
30.01.2026 17:35 β π 20 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0β¦I am working with my colleauges in Congress to find real legislative solutions to end this terror. We will continue to work to protect Black, brown, and immigrant communities in the East Bay and across the country.

The crusade of cruelty that this administration is carrying out against immigrant communities is violent. It has cost people their lives. It betrays the original promises of our nationβ¦

β¦Glad to stand alongside her today as she signs two executive orders that state clearly - In the face of unprecedented ICE cruelty Oakland says HELL NO.
(2/2)
The East Bay has always been clear - we are for justice over all else.
I am working closely with Mayor Lee to ensure that we are putting justice first, protecting our communities, caring for each other, and standing up for our rightsβ¦
