The politicians should have the gumption to face the bored and fidgety and try to involve, inform and perhaps inspire.

I’ve just read “Postal Order”. It reminds me of the early twentieth century world my grandmothers grew up in. They were heavy industry town girls who had occasional visits to the north west England seaside resorts. Both married Cumberland farmers.
