YouTube video by StevenMighty Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy (Belgium, 1991)

1991. A theatre tech mate of mine locked herself in a church in southwest England with this album on the boombox to finish a repaint job.

Brazil nuts are underrated.

I'm not sure they really need pressure. When I spent a lot of time in the UK 15+ years ago, there was wall-to-wall coverage of the refugee crisis.

The Game Gear really was ahead of its time.

It's a first TBH! And I'm not remodeling.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Watching Pee-wee's Big Adventure with the family and it's a pure delight for all, especially my 8 year old

Baking done.
Dishes done.
Trash taken out.
Dinner ready for tonight.

Ready to rock and roll tomorrow.

Sweet. Long, slow trip but nice to have the option.

I never considered the fire risk associated with bamboo scaffolding.

Torso and head of a human stone sculpture, apparently standing in a glass showcase standing in the landscape (grass and soil is visible in the background) - the rib cage es emphasised with carved lines, the bald head has a only vaguely depicted nose and thick lips and eyes with horizontal lines.

The more of these other #TasTepeler sites in SE #Türkiye is coming to light, the more fascinating the early #Neolithic of the region gets:

Have a look at this just announced sculpture from #Sayburc, emphasized ribs already hinting at death, but there's more ... 🏺💀

For non-lawyers: this is the largest sanction against an attorney for frivolous conduct that I've ever heard of*. When attorneys are sanctioned $10-$20k is a big deal. This is a MASSIVE deal.

*- not counting the slightly different issue of defendants having their answer struck for misconduct.

There was a whole industry at the turn of the 20th century devoted to mass producing low-cost decorative elements like cast iron cornices for multistory buildings.

I'm personally cool with brutalism, but we should do what we gotta do to sell high density to the masses.

There is a scene from "The Crown" where Sir Anthony Eden is slumped over on a plane with a needle in his arm and two Americans are commenting along the lines of: "The power of the British Empire indeed".

Same vibe here.

I remember he took me there when I was 6 or so.

They still hadn't paid off the mortgage when they retired. They moved in with us in rural Texas along with my aunt, uncle, and their kids. 7 people in a 2 bedroom house.

Anyway, fetishizing the 50s/60s/70s is really weird and ahistorical.

My g'father was a farmer and then got a job at an industrial meatpacking plant that he worked at for 30 years.

He cut half his finger off on the line and it went into the ground beef. The company later went bankrupt and he lost his pension. He got another butcher plant job until he was 70. 3/

financial straits that my grandmother started charging Mom (age 15) rent and utilities. She was able to enroll in a work/school co-op program. There were no prospects for college.

My g'mother and g'father both grew up in Tennessee with no indoor plumbing - probably not until the late 40s. 2/

Mom was just telling me about how her parents' house in B'ham was seized by eminent domain in 1963 for a cut rate to make way for an interchange. They had not paid off much of the mortgage, so my grandmother had to get a second job as a nurse.

They got a new place, but were in such dire 1/

The blue names definitely call into question the overall usefulness of this methodology. State level probably doesn't work very well.

There's still some migration south, but more Americans live north of 36°30′. Maybe we evening out population density? (thanks to A/C and cars I'd guess)
