Decals on, tail attached, protective coat sprayed. Time for weathering.

Anyone got recommendations for what panel line wash to use here? Should I just go black? Or something light and contrasty?

Token Electra cockpit. I've also started painting the passenger seats, but am a bit stuck on what colour to paint the floor. The real thing is some kind of stripy carpet, but I think I'll just end up painting it dark grey. You'll never see most of it anyway.

Thanks much 👋🏻 The tape I am using here is a “Delicate Surface” (low tak) painters tape I picked up at the hardware store. It’s alright however the tak is pretty low for this purpose (small section on a curved surface over matt paint) and it can leave a bit of residue.

Did some masking work last night so I could get this second colour coat down on the A-4 Skyhawks this morning A-4M & TA-4J (Aggressors) #ModelAircraft #HistScaleModels

Went with the masking fluid option for the chipping on the bottom and honestly I'm not sure it worked that well, might just try hairspray again on the top. #HistScaleModels

If you want to tighten up the soft edges, use very thin paint with the airbrush very close to the model and use the reflection of the wet paint to guide you. Built it up slowly. This is a test build of an ancient 1/48 scale Monogram build.

Ooooh, 😩 Crushing when that happens so late in the build… Nice recovery job though ✋🏻

It was going so well until I broke every part of the tail in the jig while putting the wings on. Later, I broke the tail skid off while rigging it. Spent a full day passably fixing it but it’ll never go down as a great finished model when it’s done. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

A 1/35,scale Zil truck by Trumpeter. It’s blue and rusty and dirty. The model is on a green hobby mat and bottles of paint surround the mode.

Back to working on the Zil. A long build as I decided to show off the well detailed engine.

Unfortunately the engine was nicely detailed but the underside of the hood, hood props, firewall etc., had to be scratch built. (Props are a WIP)

Also added wires and hoses.

Underside of a AMP 1/72 Canberra TT.18 model showing a diagonal pattern of black and yellow.

Yellow coat on, masking off. A handful of corrections are needed but I'm satisfied with the yellow tone. First coat was white, then very soft pink, then Tamiya yellow. This will become WJ682 of 100 "Tatty Ton" Squadron. #histscalemodels

1/72 model of a Canberra TT.18. I sprayed the underside of this 1/72 AMP Canberra white and then soft pink in anticipation of a few yellow coats. The model will be finished as a target towing TT.18, hence the yellow and black stripes (the black is masked off)

In anticipation of the Airfix Canberra release I made a point in finishing this target towing TT.18 of 100 Sqn RAF, hence it will have ventral yellow and black diagonal stripes (the black is masked off). The kit is AMP. #histscalemodels

Some over spray to fix up, lots of work still to be done but....the bulk of the painting seems to be done. Now to detail and clean up. I feel better. Not going to be perfect but it will be done.

Anytime I have used Leading Edge Model decals I have had great results John 👍🏻

The 1/48th Hasegawa kits are component based to get the various types and unfortunately the fit isn’t the best on many of those parts. The good news is that with the competitive kits out, the Hasegawa ones can be found at lower cost. I got these both at $40 ea. so I was sold at that price 👍🏻
