15.05.2025 19:18 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0100 years ago, the President of the United States treated his cold by having the Army lock him in an air-tight room filled with chlorine gas.
It went so well that the First Lady joined him the next day (just to hang out, she wasn't sick).
History is interesting.
How did people feel about Congress 100 years ago? About the same.

A good piece at Fox News about impoundment (in which I'm quoted). We need more like this in outlets that are read by Republicans. www.foxnews.com/politics/con...

Whatβs that, you sayβdid I also get the 2024 election right? Iβm sorry, youβre breaking up.

Thanks, Laura! I certainly will.
17.01.2025 17:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That Biden's last move is to weirdly and incompetently create needless confusion about what the full official text of the Constitution even is, is in some sense a fitting entry point for the post-constitutional era he's leaving us in.

Starting a 6-week paternity leave today. Grateful to my university (and Harrison, too!) for making this possible.
13.01.2025 15:34 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is correct and everyone gets it wrong including the media. Congress did not "certify" the presidential election today, and if you listen carefully to the script Harris followed during the joint session, she didn't say that because the parliamentarians are astute sticklers for these things.
06.01.2025 21:30 β π 287 π 64 π¬ 7 π 1I did it for the first time this semester & followed the example from one of my grad school profs of buying them something with the money. He did a pizza party. I made a game of forecasting the election outcome & got the top two students a gift certificate of their choosing. Went over well, I think.

What a great interview, Heath! Very informative.
21.12.2024 18:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0βPerhaps itβs the winning party that really faces the toughest question post-election: How do you build public support during an era of relatively slow growth, low trust in government and low satisfaction with the state of the country?β

12.12.2024 19:50 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 5 π 0Oh, that is so good! Thanks for sharing (I hadn't seen it). Tough question. My first thought was Cleveland b/c of Stevenson, but Sewall made me realize it was Bryan. Who was his other running mate in 1896, Tom Watson I think?

Punchline: state legislators whose districts are in out-of-state media markets are more likely to author and cosponsor policy innovations already adopted in the neighboring state.
