You generate power through either low-efficiency solid-state effects (thermocouples) or motion-based (Stirling engines, turbines). All require a side with more heat.

This Memorial Day weekend I remember my great-uncle Bill Hayes, who served in the Pacific in WWII and died this year at 102.

He was a Character.

Two men, one middle-aged, one elderly, sitting behind a dining table after a meal. My great-Uncle Bill and I.

He was our family’s last tie to that generation. He was kind, religious, and sharp to the end.

I’ll miss him so.

I just got word that my great uncle Bill has passed at age 101. Me was my father’s mother’s sister’s husband, so not blood-close, but we all loved him. He was a raconteur, with tales of working overseas for Saudi Aramco, and served in the jungles of the Pacific in WWII.
