I assume a tuna melt would be the napalm of sandwich ordinance (and a violation of the Geneva Convention)

The Pumpkin King is constructed from a small pumpkin for a head, a body formed of cropped buddleia stems, atop his grinning head sits a branching crown of buddleia wood. His royal visage is lit by LEDs and is astride a large trunk. This lord of misrule looms 50-60 cms in height. Be fear'd.

Sometimes in early Dec or so is when all the government contracts finally run out of existing cash, so either the Lockmarts of the world go pro bono or Congress finally gets off their ass.

Shenandoah still has a good deal of trail erosion damage from the heavy rains this summer so every opportunity to get some work in before the ground freezes for winter is appreciated. This week's project was new stone on the North Marshall #AT to repair gullies in the trailbed. #hiking #PATC

The perennial trail maintainers' game of "rock tetris" - 'now where does this one fit?'

Despite the ongoing government shutdown, #PATC volunteers recently got approval to continue working on the #AT in Shenandoah NP (but not side trails). #nationalparks #hiking

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to see the North Cascades National Park and the beautiful fall colors present. Only just now getting around to the photos, but it was such a dream. The weather was perfect and the colors were so vibrant!

But it’s also a balance, which is why I don’t like the β€œyou gotta eat glass” part of the quote. Don’t undersell and/or overwork yourself. Not only will it make your life miserable but it drags down every other working artist of the editors are like β€œwell that guy can do it fast for half the money”

This sounds like some kind of weird humble-brag but it’s really true. You don’t have to eat glass, but you’d be surprised how far you can get by being reliable and easy to work with. Raw drafting talent is worth nothing if you’re a piece of shit who can’t hit deadlines.

Reminds me of a neighbor kid talking to me for 30 min while I was planting a tree in my yard only for them to suddenly say "wait you actually live here? You're not a worker?"

Well, I *am* working...!

This is a photo taken looking up into the branches of a gnarled old oak tree which has gorgeously crooked branches. There is dappled sunshine filtering through the leaves and the image is calming and uplifting.
