I know folks largely mean well. But nothing tells me we have different goals more than “Roe is the floor.” What do I mean by that?

Demand NY Invest in Its Abortion Funds and Clinics Post-Roe, our abortion care infrastructure has already been facing extreme pressure with long wait-times, insufficient staff, and closing clinics. If NY wants to remain an 'access state' we must demand our city and state lawmakers use state resources and invest in clinics and abortion funds. One way the NYS Government can do this is by increasing allocations to the Reproductive Freedom and Equity Program, which supports providers and funds, and increasing Medicaid Reimbursement Rates in their budget.

4) Demand NY invests in our abortion funds and clinics!

The state legislature can fund for the Reroductive Freedom and Equity Program (sponsored by @votejgr.bsky.social) which provides state funding directly to the funds and providers that are experiencing unprecedented demand.

Learn to Support Someone Through Their Abortion Abortion doulas are trained companions that provide physical, emotional, and informational support to people accessing abortion care. Join or start your own doula collective (NY is developing one at newyorkabortiondoulas.org) or reach out to clinics to offer support. Even if you're only supporting friends and folks in your community, you're doing invaluable work by destigmatizing and increasing access to reproductive healthcare.

Share Information About Abortion Pills by Mail Tens of thousands of people in all 50 states have been accessing abortion pills via mail, even after Roe was overturned. It's vital we use our protections as New Yorkers to share how people can access this care. Join one of NYCFAR's Self-Managed Abortion (SMA) info sessions or read up yourself at plancpills.org and ineedana.org. Share youalwayshaveoptions.com which includes information about where to find pills, medical resources, legal helplines, and options counseling.

Support Your Local Abortion Fund and Practical Support Orgs Abortion funds provide money to patients for abortion care. Practical Support Orgs (PSOs), as well as certain funds, help with patient travel and lodging costs. Funds have experienced unprecedented demand since the end of Roe, as patients from banned states are forced to travel. This will only get more dire under a Trump admin. For New Yorkers, our local fund is the New York Abortion Access Fund (nyaaf.org). You can sign up to help funds and PSOs across the country at abortionmob.org.
