The 👑 given to the winner 🏅 of the Chrysanthina games at Sardis (Lydia) was made of helichrysum, a 🌼 with yellow round florets, hence its pearly look!

Quite unusual type of a coiled serpent riding on the back of a horse, depicted on coins of Philadelphia in Lydia. Certainly not associated with games, but rather with the cult of Asclepius.

Hoard of coins dating from Roman conquest of Britain found near Utrecht Archaeologists hail very rare discovery of buried coins that suggest details of how military campaign was fought

Newly entered on CHRE: Exciting new hoard found in the Netherlands (Bunnik 2023), dating from the time of the Roman conquest of Britain, mixing Roman denarii and aurei with staters of Cunobelinus!
