This is more than just a building—it’s an investment in community spirit, inclusion, and a vibrant future for Dawson and the surrounding region. Construction starts soon, and we can’t wait to see this vision take shape.

This project is the result of strong collaboration with the City of Dawson and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, whose guidance helped shape a centre that reflects local needs.

This facility will include:
🏒 An ice rink
🥌 Curling sheets
💪 A fitness centre
👟 An indoor walking loop
🧸 A children’s play area
🏠 Community programming and office spaces

The Governments of Canada and the Yukon are investing $63.9 million to begin construction on a brand-new Dawson City Recreation Centre - a modern, inclusive, and year-round hub for health, wellness, and community.

It’s more than a solar farm — it’s a step toward energy independence, climate action, and local economic growth, all led by White River First Nation.

Led by Copper Niisüü Limited Partnership and supported by federal funding (including $2.1 million for Yukon renewable projects), the project will meet 60% of Beaver Creek’s power needs and cut 350,000 litres of diesel use every year.

Yesterday I had the chance to be in Beaver Creek for something truly inspiring.

The community officially opened the Saa/Se Energy Project — a solar power system that’s already replaced diesel as their main source of electricity.

Je suis attristée d'apprendre le départ de Sandra Journeaux-Henderson, pionnière de l'enseignement du français au Yukon. Elle a été la première enseignante en immersion précoce ici et a consacré sa vie à développer et à soutenir la communauté francophone.

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to visit the amazing Indigenous artists at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre for the Shakaat Artist Residency. Thank you for sharing your stories and teaching us about your creative ways.

This pool isn’t just a place to swim; it’s a space where kids can be kids, families can gather, and lasting memories can be made.
 
Here’s to new memories, healthy living, and a stronger Carmacks.

After nearly six years of being closed, the pool is finally back, thanks to funding from the Canada Community-Building Fund, the Government of Yukon, and support from Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation.

Yesterday in Carmacks, I got to be part of something really special — the grand reopening of the Carmacks Swimming Pool!

But more than medals, they showed what true sportsmanship and team spirit look like.

What a weekend for Team Yukon at the Special Olympics BC Summer Games!
38 athletes, coaches, and staff showed up with heart and left it all on the field, bringing home 6 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze medals!

Thanks to over $7.8 million in joint funding, 10 new, fully accessible buses will join Whitehorse's fleet in the coming years. This will improve transit service, ease traffic congestion and help tackle climate change as the city grows!

Many boats - and even some paddleboards - are off to Carmacks. For the second year in a row, wildfires have forced the race to end there instead of Dawson. A reminder that even our cherished races aren’t immune to the climate crisis - no matter the season.
