Troubling report from El Paso suggests many violations of Texas’ Michael Morton Act—a law designed to promote fairness and prevent wrongful convictions by requiring prosecutors to promptly share evidence with the defense. x.com/DougtheLawye...

How Texas Jails Built Migrant Incarceration
Following a 1925 investigation, immigrant detention in the Galveston County Jail was declared “a crime against humanity.”

From Chinese Exclusion to the ‘Undesirable Alien Act,’ Galveston reminds us: immigration control has long criminalized the vulnerable at great human and financial cost. @texasobserver.org

Roughly 50 years ago, a complete performance by Willie at the Austin Opry House, which he owned. It's so great to see Mickey Raphael in this video and know that, 50 years later, he's still playing at Willie's side. That says something (good) about both of them, IMO.

How Southwest Airlines crusaded against Texas' bullet train
The airline didn't want public funds to be used for a bullet train project decades ago. And it likely didn't want the competition either.

In the early ‘90s, Southwest Airlines was uniquely situated to be ditched by customers who would turn to rail if given the option. I looked at how Southwest responded and what it means for the latest proposal for high-speed rail in Texas.
