Reminds me of that Interrail trip I cut short because of illness. Had to get a Eurolines coach back to London on a 20-something hour journey. 😭 That was crap because I was sat next to this man who insisted on showing me his holiday pictures. It wasn't. It was the very definition of a hostile environment for refugees.

The reason it was "kinder" transport was because hate was whipped up against adults fleeing Nazi Germany. 1/2

They already had form for doing this. They didn’t want to accept Spanish refugee children in the 1930s because they claimed that “the weather wouldn’t suit them”. Anyone who has been to northern Spain knows this is BS. It was largely due to volunteer organisations that Spanish children came over.
