The usually very articulate Penny Wong was all over the place on 7.30 tonight. Obviously trying to address the Gaza situation without upsetting the Israeli / Jewish lobby.

There never has been anything “Christian” about the Catholic Church. Protecting pedophiles within the church is but one example. Then paying expensive lawyers to manipulate the truth instead of compensating victims. What a great way to show their “Christian” beliefs.

Both major parties have definitely been bought or scared shitless by lobby groups. Labor’s failure to implement a ban on gambling advertising is an excellent example.

It’s the old shoot the messenger philosophy … well established in biblical times.

A large part of it is that those responsible for the decisions are keeping their options open for post-parliament jobs. Today’s Age lists several former ministers now employed by the same defence contractors they dealt with a ministers. Corruption in government is rife.

Unfortunately, privatisation / outsourcing is still a part of the government’s thinking.

Yet more evidence of total government incompetence, past and present. Govt and their advisers are outsmarted by savvy companies every time, or is it the negotiators are looking for industry jobs in the future.

Do you think questioning under oath would get the truth. Trump doesn’t respect US laws, lies regularly and makes up stuff, why would being on oath make a difference.

Ley is dead scared to say a word out of place that might upset the all powerful (as far as the LNP is concerned) Israeli lobby.

There is no excuse, but like the ban on gambling advertising, there are behind the scenes interests that will ensure it doesn’t get up.

This falls into the same dodgy deals Australian governments have entered into over the years. Just add it to the giving away of our resources with little to show, subsidies to the mining industry, no reserve policy of gas exports, etc.

I can’t understand why the Liberals don’t just bite the bullet and ditch the Nationals and their climate change denying policies. Rebuilding the liberal party without the burden of the Nats would seem a good option.

And penalise those sitting on empty houses, stop Airbnb, make councils provide building permits in a timely manner, Etc.

Absolutely pathetic service as far as I’m concerned. Two parcels lost and compensation paid in the last 3-4 months. Worst of all failed to deliver VicRoads renewal notice, was RTS. registration expired and roadworthy cert needed. Only explanation, we don’t know why not delivered

The appointment of a totally compromised person to head this enquiry is another example of weakness of Labor in bowing to a lobby group and their need to keep News Corp quiet. Next it will be an enquiry into the mining industry by Gina Reinhart and into the coal industry by Matt Canavan.

If we eventually get the subs, it could be 20 years away, by that time they will be obsolete. We are seeing drone technology advancing rapidly. We need a full enquiry, and Labor need to ignore the pro-subs lobby and the LNP

All of which would make Australia's tax regime much fairer. But you can bet it won't happen. This government, like previous ones, is too afraid of the mining and big business lobby. Labor is still to realise that the wealthy do not vote for them!

Does anyone else see the irony in the government appointing a Jewish woman to head this enquiry into anti-semitism.

Albanese had his chance when over half million (inc me) signed a petition for enquiry into Murdoch media. Bastard chickened out! Why?

And the sad thing is that some of those worst effected, can’t see that they have been shafted by trump and his erratic policies.

Fortunately all of the upper management involved are now gone. You can bet they spent the money defending the indefensible in an effort to protect their reputation … nothing more!

Unfortunately, it shows the power of the Jewish/Israeli lobby in the country. That they have direct access to the upper management of the ABC is one thing but being able to have them act of what are basically minor matters is another. This influence needs a full investigation as to why.

What is it with these extremist 'religious' types. Not a moral bone in their body.
