12.10.2025 20:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No trans person is going to thrive under Trump. On the other hand, leading with this issue when there are so many others that will resonate with voters more strongly is foolish. Stick with the economy, equal rights for all and a woman's right to choose, etc. If we win, the rest takes care of itself.
09.10.2025 07:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My second point is that there are a galaxy of issues that are important to the American people. We must be careful what we choose. If we win in 2026 and take the Presidency in 2028, all the marginalized people will again have a voice. If you call smart politics "political expediency" so be it.
09.10.2025 07:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Your deductive powers border on ESP as I said or implied nothing of the kind. I believe in equal rights for all. Ms. Clymer attacked Tom Nichols for not advocating for an issue which was not the subject of his article. That was my first point.
09.10.2025 07:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh. My. God.
Is there no limit to the stupidity.
Ok. I guess not.
Ha. I said nothing of the kind. All I said was that Clymer was wrong to introduce an unrelated subject into a conversation about swearing politicians. I also said this is a problem for Progressive Democrats whose selection of issues is not always optimal for elective purposes. You made up the rest.
09.10.2025 05:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I read you regularly and while I am sure we might disagree on some issues, overall, your logical takes and strong writing on politics and the world are a pleasure to read. Common sense is hard to find these days and I always find it in your columns. Thanks, Tom.
09.10.2025 04:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know. But lack of focus and striking out at an honest opinion is not the way. It is a habit that too many of my fellow Dems engage in.
I am a classic Roosevelt liberal and historian (WWII and Civil War). I find the general lack of knowledge about history here to be disappointing. Not unexpected.
Look at the scoreboard, bro. Two years of hell because some in my party can't compromise or find issues that resonate with a large part of the electorate. A lot to kvetch about when this stubbornness leads to more Trump. Do it our way or we won't turn is not strategy; it's political suicide.
09.10.2025 04:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You assume much and wrongly. I do not argue trans rights. I argue that forcing the issue into comments about politicians who use swear words is stupid and inappropriate.
09.10.2025 04:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bluefash? Ha, another sad fringe progressive whose inability to tolerate differing liberal views descends to name calling. Bet you stayed home in the last election. Good job and thanks for Trump. Keep talking and proving my point, though.
09.10.2025 04:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I suggest none of these things. Ms. Clymer went off on an inappropriate rant that has nothing to do with Tom's post.
09.10.2025 02:55 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Cotton wads in your ears which are strongly associated with deafness to different opinions. Or maybe you desire to yell so loud you can't hear anything else. Poor me, I just wasted time talking to an idiot which I'll never get back. Have a nice day.
09.10.2025 02:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I listen to intelligent thought. Read the article. Not sure I agree with Tom on cursing but it's hard to see how trans rights apply to what he said. I support just about anyone who opposes Trump.
09.10.2025 02:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lovely and intelligent reply. Truly deep and insightful. Kinda proves my point.
09.10.2025 02:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is an example of why Progressives cost Democrats elections. Tom gets to choose what he writes about and you rip him for not discussing something unrelated and off his topic. This is a sad but persistent habit of certain liberals. It is a losing play. Pontificate elsewhere. Dear God, indeed.
09.10.2025 01:44 β π 31 π 0 π¬ 7 π 8Impressive that you replied. Good luck.
08.10.2025 09:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am hoping to get a lot closer although I do have some pretty powerful telephoto capabilities.
Stay tuned.
Of course, except for Shasta (which I took on a trip last year), these are stock images of those mountains. We'll see what my camera can do with them. All are volcanos, BTW, which as with Shasta have not erupted for 5,000+ years.
08.10.2025 09:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And we'll also visit these:
The Three Sisters
This is another destination on that trip:
Mt. Bachelor
So here is one of the places I'm going in two weeks for a photo shoot. This is Mt. Shasta which is about 30 miles or so from the Oregon Border. It's obviously a volcano but it has not erupted for 10,000 years.
08.10.2025 09:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How many times does someone with a grip have to say that polygraphs are bogus, unreliable and inadmissible in court. They are a fantasy and do more harm than good. There is a literal industry to keep this lie afloat even though there is no proof the method works. Nevertheless, here we are again.
08.10.2025 01:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Did you take a look at my website: ScottSewellPhotography.com.
07.10.2025 23:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0These two lovers were the model for their 3 children's lives and all of us were able to find spouses that allowed us to have what they had: A partner for a life full of shared adventure and interesting people. They showed the way and we miss them still.
07.10.2025 23:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ma and Pa: my parents. Dad worked for an oil tool company and was transferred to Houston at the end of his career. They made the best of it and traveled Texas and the South in their van camper. As soon as he retired they moved to Carlsbad, CA and lived out their days traveling the world from there.
07.10.2025 23:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ha. Corruption is in the local DNA it seems. Texas never seems to draw the line on outrageous politics but sometimes on moral issues. M&P lived in Texas so I got a close look at the local scene. Paxton breaks the boundaries but unfortunately Trump has changed the acceptance level for bad behavior.
07.10.2025 22:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks. I'm up in Northern California right now to start a project on the volcanoes of the Cascade Volcanic Arc. Looking to apply some of my coastal techniques to these amazing piles of rock and ash. I'm stopping at Shasta and then heading to the Three Sisters area. Not sure where this will go yet.
07.10.2025 22:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I missed this obvious point although his lust for money, fame and the lead role as the advocate of old-time Texas racism and cruelty stands alone. We'll see if Texans buy into it. If Cruz is an embarrassment, they might go to 11 for Paxton. I hope not but Texas always disappoints.
