Not much more to say except that: If you see people speculating — wether the speculation is that the shooter was trans or that they were a nazi — those people aren't doing journalism.

I wouldn't trust that photo either. It lack a verifiable chain of custody. Anything on social media is untrustworthy unless linking to a good source. But if you hear anything, let me know and if I can I'll dig in to verify.

I think it also shows the hollowing out of local media generally. If you're a city reporter, you should know how the point-in-time count works, why it's the accurate set of info on people experiencing homelessness, how it's used, etc. The fact that they don't!
