Trying to figure out which football coach’s sartorial choice I’m more annoyed by: the one from the school whose motto “Go Blue” wearing all black, or the one whose most prominent logo is the silhouette of a basketball player who famously attended another university.

I do think it’s a mindset thing… I *feel* like VT prides itself on intangibles/being frugal. Whereas other fanbases brag about spending frivolously.

Idk it’s perplexing to me how VT raises so little relative to programs that were clearly lesser (at least 10 years ago)

Ehh all Hokies like to say that, but idk if it’s true. If you look at the data on knight commission, you see that VT was out-raising Clemson for decades until their 2015 natty appearance.

Anecdotally, my Clemson friends say everyone opts out of iptay upon graduation unless they stay local

Interesting hypothesis… But most of our fans are in DC/DC burbs (Norrhern VA)… Maybe that distance is too far for fans to take advantage of the perks of donations?

in Whits presentation to the BoV a couple weeks ago, he said that VT has the most donors of any ACC public, but the lowest average giving per donor of the same sample of schools.

How/why do our fans give less than everyone else?
