You can choose to explain your priorities or decisions to someone, for your reasons & within your boundaries-- but if you're feeling pressure to do so, resist. It's a slippery slope from explaining to overexplaining to approval seeking.

Breathe; blink; push pause; & push back.

There is no "big picture" issue in trauma recovery that makes it unnecessary to focus on self-talk, mental focus, & our physiology today. Daily emotional regulation using those three basic tools will never not be a priority in realistic recovery.

And the absolute kicker is that it costs the government so much more to police who “deserves” help than to just pay everyone who is eligible. Even with a few “fakers” in the mix.

All this so nondisabled people can feel secure in the belief that they don’t have to take care of us.

We need to completely change how we talk about taxes and government assistance. The conversation makes it seem like people are charity cases for using their taxes- we don't talk about rich business owners getting grants and funding to open new locations that way.

Addiction being treated like moral failings is why so many of y'all think you're not addicts and instead think the systems tricked you. 💀
