Obviously, that would be up to yourself. But I'd love to see the lecture.

There's a machine that produces infinite hardboiled eggs ie a yolk tube surrounded by a white tube, for industrial gala pie production. Surely that could be adapted.

In my experience this is a strong leading indicator of a recession.

Jim Sanborn has a secret The sculptor of the CIA’s ‘Kryptos’ has spent decades guarding its last secret code. What happens when he’s gone?

What’s going to happen to the unsolved riddle from the sculpture in the CIA’s garden when the only person who knows the answer dies? Great long form journalism here - worth buying the FT in hard copy so you can read the magazine for this

Stephen Jay Gould had that book the Pandas Thumb which talked about qwerty as one of these vestigial hangovers.

My kids are desperate to visit Croydon thanks to you! I've tried to explain but they regard it as a magical place that we should def visit.

Hope that helped. Carbs sounds like a very good start. And remember WC Field's thing 'I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up that's the best they're going to feel all day'

Just seen this so probably too late. But preemptive analgesia is good. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen will stave off the pain more effectively if taken before the pain starts.

As someone who's done a couple of pretty substantial career shifts, I'd recommend prof Herminia Ibarra's book 'Working Identity'. She has some excellent advice on how to shift careers, and also how weird and disorienting it feels whilst you're doing it.

'She believed you have to take sides': How Audrey Hepburn became a secret spy during World War Two As a teenager growing up in the Netherlands, the Oscar-winning actress bravely carried messages for the Dutch resistance during the Nazi occupation.

This excellent piece on Audrey Hepburn's work as a teen with the Dutch resistance was going around yesterday. I see it's based on a script by historian Alex von Tunzelmann. @alexvont.bsky.social

What we talk about when we talk about the office [FREE TO READ] Enduring interest in where we work has made it a small talk favourite

Office chat allows white-collar workers to discuss their jobs in a way that would be intelligible to someone outside their field. When friends post on LinkedIn, I’m struck not just by how sensible they seem. But also that I’m not entirely sure what exactly it is they do.

I love the FT's journalism. You get a flavour of office life here. 'Hot Mom never picked up the phone and we were unable to find a website, though the FT’s open plan office and fear of another run-in with the IT security desk stymied our search.'
