If you're a writer, I really hope that that story that you love but can't quite place will one day find the editor who'll love it too, and I hope your story finds its home.

This story had sat shelved on my hard drive for years and now it's out in the world and people are reading it, enjoying it, and even saying nice things about it! If I hadn't hauled it out for one last sub, it never would have seen the light of day.
