Also it’s pretty grim how the plan only identifies one funding source for further bus service expansion: congestion pricing (which is now pretty much dead under Wiggins/Bass leadership)

I can’t find the final version of the 2022 plan but the redlined version I can find says it’s permissible to do wider stop spacing β€œwhere local conditions allow” like lower density/lower ridership potential areas.

I would hope that stop removal and new bus lanes could help here, but also hard to imagine anything they have done so far has made a dent considering buses in service are stopping more because of less Rapid and more Local service.

The freeway widening plans are to eventually create a full network of expresslanes that will help people pay money to go faster without doing real congestion pricing, and I hope fund bus service along them. But it seems like a terrible cost/benefit with the way Metro caps the tolls

They would likely shift to stay on existing ROW, so they would probably be able to use existing exemptions for zero-emissions rail on existing ROW.

My Roman Empire is the old hotel atriums that were filled with trees and fountains and now just have generic modern low maintenance furnishings. I personally spent a lot of time at the Hyatt Regency SFO airport (pics 3 and 4) as a teen.

Definitely. But once construction gets going on the first segment, people are going to start wondering why anyone made it any harder to build the second phase because the forced transfer to the A line will be so bad

I feel like this is just going to result in a report coming back that the city does not want an EIFD, like every other time they’ve studied it. Another case of the board going against staff and delaying the project a few years for no good reason.

Really wish K to E eastbound transfer didn’t involve crossing Crenshaw. There’s a knockout panel in the station that could be used to build another entrance closer to the E line platform, so I wish there were plans to get it built in the next couple years!

Yeah I can definitely see it being faster, but a lot of people going to LAUS are going there to transfer to another train or bus, so having to already transfer twice before then is going to make that option unattractive

Maybe Janice Hahn will order a study to investigate tunneling the A line under Washington, grade separating flower junction, and interlining WSAB through the regional connector. I can’t imagine it would be more expensive than this

If they have to rebuild the median for the BRT, I wonder why they are not considering a Class I bike path. I generally do not like bike lanes in the middle of a street because it forces cyclists to cross traffic to get to anywhere useful, but in this case it would avoid any conflicts with driveways

It’s because Mike Bonin and Eric Garcetti didn’t like Metro’s original plan to have people walking on a pedestrian bridge between Aviation/Century and the peoplemover. They wanted a more direct connection and got Metro and LAWA to push for a brand new fancy transfer station.
