We met a literal superhuman that day. Dad and I still talk about her.

I was once on a thru-hike with my dad. Neither of us are fast hikers, so we were taking 16 days. We're struggling up a mountain and here comes a lady, running past us. She says she's training for an ultra to complete the route in 3 DAYS. We ask how that's possible and she says "we run at night too".

I think there are actually restrictions on building anything tall nearby that might obscure its spot in the skyline. It may not be the biggest anymore, but it's easily the closest to all our hearts.

Personally I'd say that metric is wildly inaccurate, especially considering how varied the costs of living are in different regions across the country. But also colloquially, we tend to differentiate between saying someone is "poor" vs "in poverty"

Reason I ask being I just scared the shit out of myself and a poor pedestrian by almost hitting him on a crosswalk bc the glare from the headlights of the oncoming lane made him invisible to me until he stepped out into my lane. Well-lit street, just the headlights were a LOT brighter.
