Funny personal story about this. For much of my child life I lived in Beijing, China. I played the Sonic Genesis games back then, but they were bootleg cartridges, including Sonic & Knuckles, which was like any standard cart. When I moved to the UK, and was shown the real S&K cart, my mind was BLOWN

For the 2nd time ever, I have done a Resident Evil Hexology! These are the three originals of 1-3, and their respective remakes, back to back! With the Game Changes removed, I have a new PB of 05:52:20! Some caveats with this though which makes it more "unofficial" (1/2)

I died on final Lisa in RE1R, but loaded a safety save near the boss.
In RE2R, I used the infinite knife for a small part of Birkin 3, but no other time.
In RE3R, I picked up the extra hip pouches at the start.

Overall though, very happy with this! :D

/1 So, now that I have taken the time to overview what I and others have been observing, taking into account the past couple of days, and gathering info, I can give a short story on what happened with @retroachievements.org:

I've always made it clear that while I do have guidelines, mainly so it's clear what unacceptable as a whole, but if anyone even *dares* to boundary test me, I will see it, and they will go in the bin.

It might prove unpopular, but the community I have so far has been wonderful due to this.

A particularly insidious but common pitfall of community moderation is an understandable but wrong insistence on running things via strict adherence to a set of guidelines. This never actually works in practice because you end up with a bunch of bad faith actors constantly testing boundaries.

RetroAchievements users caused a collective uproar that got site admins to remove a bigoted rom hack in the time since Jay posted this. It hasn't even been 10 hours.

Here's something to pass on to the admin team.

Good start, but this momentum shouldn't let up. Start by unbanning all the folks who spoke up against the game existing on the site. Also consider the "all sides" rhetoric, you really don't want to be centrist here.

Good. This is the right move, @retroachievements.org. Now unban everyone you banned who spoke up against you, and find some way to show that you truly are against white supremacy - donating to a charity would show where your heart is.

And if anyone even remotely thinks about responding to this with "you're too sensitive" or "censorship" or any crap that amounts to "this was a bad decision", don't bother. Leave. Go away. We don't want you here. Go make a 4chan version of RA if you really want to. :)

I’m so tired of everything. I shouldn’t have to face hate on a daily basis as a woman in the gaming community, but here we are. You can say just don’t read the forums or grow thicker skin, but it’s literally all over reality. I’m tired of being told “this isn’t for you,” but more hateful.

Absolutely 100% agreed. Funnily enough I recently went to small con which had a room dedicated to folks being able to have food, and no TVs or anything showing the event that was running. Maybe not strictly a "quiet" room, but fairly close. I'd just hide in my hotel room otherwise.

This is beyond just disappointing. It's disgusting. If you look at the home page of RA and find their decision regarding game content, the fact they're calling themselves an "archival" site and are "taking a neutral stance" on platforming hateful ROMhacks like this appalling.

Forgive me for being a big downer, it will pass, but I'm sure if multiple avenues of entertainment and escape suddenly become toxic all at once, you'd likely be pretty upset too.

Between Retroachievements' absolutely disappointing and bizarre decision, Bluesky's CEO going absolutely bonkers, the game industry's continued implosion with the buyouts and price increases, and TKO's descent to the ways of SA and the rich, it feels like the world really wants to push me down.
