Not sure what I clicked on but I'm getting fed lots of YT videos of people in their 50's and 60's saying "I'm ... years old and these are the top 5 secrets..."
Am I supposed to have figured this shit out by now?

Fantastic news! But, I can't help still being pissed that this much effort and peoples' time and money were needed to "combat" this ridiculous move in the first place.

Unless this is the plan. In a few years we'll be more open to colonizing the surface of Venus.

Cooking has returned.
And I generally remember why I picked up my phone to look at it now.
State of modern life management: souring Social Media
What I've left myself with is
YouTube shorts: repetitive, unfunny and terrible
Bluesky: 99% breathless exclamations of political attrocities
So, not very interested in spending much time on them.
Ha. Nice. I held back from interacting with a woman having a crying breakdown at the Pet Value, while trying to return opened cat food, so I still have that IRL goal to accomplish.

Discovered this book by accident and I'm enjoying it but, more importantly, I am dumbfounded that someone in the world has made a living out of the same combination of interests as me! (writing, photography, walking, Japan)
I have some delving to do!

I have to agree.
I was annoying too when I was a teenager, but usually in something like Passenger 57 or Days of Thunder, so it was raucous anyway.
I'm seeing grown adults openly talking like they're on their own couch and eating a full dinner.
It's over.

And to watch out for "1 unknown male". Useful.
29.05.2025 21:48 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's been so long since I saw a street meat vendor! That food truck hubbub killed the whole industry. Thanks a lot Food Network. That looks excellent.
26.05.2025 19:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On top of dropping off the other socials, I'm also trying to reduce money going to Amazon so I'm not buying books from them, including Kindle and Audible. I'm pretty happy so far with libro.fm. Plus, it sends proceeds to the shop around the block!

Ripley's has asked that I stop calling them. They do not know who you are and this is not their process.
Congrats on a cool sounding assignment!
I "re-read" this not too long ago. It's so beautifully done and I'm just in awe of how effective it is at going directly at your experience and emotions without the specifics of language in the way.
08.05.2025 11:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah, optimism. Fair enough. I definitely hope we get there too. If it turns out the way you imagine, I'm with you.
06.05.2025 21:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, I don't know why you're so certain it's so imminent either.
06.05.2025 21:02 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wouldn't say it's silly. The money pouring into infrastructure to push it forward, and make its environmental impact, is going to far outpace the clean energy solutions that neutralize it for a long time.
06.05.2025 19:24 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Likely dodged a bullet since most people who LIKED the movie still wish the ending wasn't there.
In retrospect, I didn't care for this film except for its production efficiency. Seeing it over the holidays, in a theatre, was a bit of a sensory hammer and I probably rated it higher than I would now.
Oh thanks. We squeaked by. Looking forward to convoy 2.0 now.
29.04.2025 15:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very much making sense why us Arctic dwellers get most of our produce from the U.S.! (Still dusty leafless plants and sporadic snowfalls. π’)
Congrats on y'alls bounty!
Well, can't disagree with that. But "debate" is not really something that happens in modern politics anywhere (to my knowledge) and that idea is the only thing that might be useful in broadening or enlightening people and their already firmly held beliefs. So, this, I don't bother watching.
