Why schedule tours and then rent it out without even letting people know others had applied - and giving them the chance to do so as well?? I hate landlord so freaking much

We’re trying to rent a house (first one fell through, very messy situation). Had one we were extra hopeful about scheduled to tour next Thursday - the very first day possible. Just got an email it’s no longer available. What the hell? How is that ok??

It’s actually a moderate to low price for a house its size in the area. And we’ve seen smaller townhouses and apartments for more. But because big corporations own so much of housing and have jacked prices, if he rents it for much less, he’ll probably get tenants that won’t care for it well.
