Today it’s off to Madeira again, this time fairly late in the day and a landing in the dark.

It’s nice to have the sun out after weeks of storms and rain.

This winter we were on full EBT for the first time, before was limited EBT/ATQP. Only difference was that the license was signed on day 3 instead of day 1.

Thy swapped to 3 days in winter and 1 day in summer a few years ago. The reason is that we fly a lot less in winter.

But it leads to the problem that simulator time in winter is scarce and most of them are mostly empty in summer.

I did 4 (plus three day in the SIM) and deadheaded on 3.

And that is on a narrowbody.

More common seems to be not calling 500 (stability gate for us) or something like 10, 5, 2

Starting out shortly after 6:00 in the morning over the Atlantic Ocean it can be pitch black outside. No lights below, only dim stars above.

But at least a bit of sun showed up for my visual approach into Madeira.

The only time where I thought it would be handy is flying the visual / circling into LPMA. With the RNP (AR) not even there.

Well, flying into LOWI I see the usefulness as well.

I always wonder about that. Neither Switzerland nor Norway are in the customs unit, but completely (Norway) or mostly (Switzerland) in the single market.

Cold and early in Porto

5:00 Check in for a very early flight to Geneva and back to Porto. Despite the thunderstorms in Porto we managed to be 20 minutes early.

Same aircraft as yesterday, an surprisingly the same FO as well. But today we have to work more. We already flew from Porto to Nantes and back, and now it’s off to the 3-country airport in France.

Just a late flight to Paris Orly and back today. We fly an aircraft which carries a big „Austria“ decal on the fuselage, and we are Austrias biggest airline. But we have no aircraft and no crew based in that country. The wonders of the EU.

Gilt nur für gewerblichen Verkehr. Und auch da nur wenn eine Landesgrenze überflogen wird. Innerdeutsch fällt dabei die MwSt an.

Wenn man privat oder im Werksverkehr fliegt wird voll versteuert, also Energiesteuer plus MwSt.

Anders als die Bahn ist der Flugverkehr seit 2012 direkt im ETS inkludiert, zahlt also direkt für alle CO2 Emissionen. Und emittiert weniger pro Passagier und km als das deutsche Durchschnittsauto inklusive BEV.

Beides international. Noch haben wir ja Kopenhagen nicht zurück ins Reich geholt.

Aber ja, Treibstoff auf internationalen Flügen im gewerblichen Flugverkehr ist steuerfrei, unterliegt aber dem ETS. Tickets sind nicht steuerfrei, da gibt’s neben den normalen Steuern noch die zusätzliche Flugsteuer.

Dann ist es voll versteuert. Steuerfrei ist es nur im gewerblichen grenzüberschreitenden Verkehr. Selbst der interne Flugbetrieb von VW, BMW etc. fliegt voll versteuert da er nicht gewerblich ist.

Da Deutschland nur eine MwSt auf den im deutschen Luftraum erbrachten Anteil erheben kann, und das muss man schätzen da es jeden Tag anders geht. Deutsches Steuerrecht, genauso wie Arbeitsrecht, endet an der deutschen Grenze.

A nice and early flight to Madeira today, first time for me to land on runway 23 but with nearly no wind it was an easy and smooth approach and landing.
