I’d also abolish the second round of the draft. The NBAPA should be working towards that to ensure more talent have more agency and aren’t tied to teams with limited intention of ever playing them.

… Or weigh odds year-on-year based on draft placements in prior year or years after an initial flattening.

The later would ensure a sharing of opportunity at drafting young talent, and provide no incentive to ‘tank’.

You need to decouple draft odds from playing performance. As it stands it’s essentially a match-fixing system, where teams throw games to get picks.

I think you are right on the thinking. I think it’s wrong headed though and that he adds more than he takes. Clingan is such a monstrous zero on offence it’s tough to watch him play 30 minutes for a team that is supposedly trying to compete.

I just don’t think his perimeter limitations are reason enough, considering his strengths elsewhere, and the absolute flogs that Portland are giving minutes to this year and in his previous years. I suppose previously the were throwing games.

He is a 2 guard in ‘25. A weakness can’t be 3s. Tired of giving finite opportunities to guys who pissed away their development opportunities pre-draft and have to have the basics built into their games at their position. Development is balancing opportunity/consequence, need to see more of later

If Shaedon Sharpe can’t shoot, then he can’t play. That has to be the baseline for Splitter if he wants to avoid the pitfalls of endless opportunities for “high-up-side” hopeless cases that have weighed down the last half decade of the Blazers
