VA expands education benefits by a year for qualifying veterans with multiple enlistments Veterans who served through multiple reenlistments are now eligible for an additional 12 months of education benefits under the GI Bill.

The expansion is the result of a 2024 Supreme Court decision that effectively ended a 36-month cap on education benefits for veterans who had at least two qualifying periods of service. Veterans are now eligible for a total of 48 months of assistance.
