Watched del Toro's Frankenstein last night. Hm. Found Isaac's characterization to be interesting (compared to other films.) Mia Goth was a little flat as Elizabeth, but I can't tell if that was a directorial choice or acting choice. Clearly a loving adaptation. #Movies

This month's hair is Arctic Fox's "Wrath" (bright red) layered over faded "Ginger Flare" with black ends. I'm hopeful this will not turn out hot pink as red sometimes does on my hair. :crosses fingers: Guess we'll see.

Starfield is currently helping me get through this trying time.

We watched it for a #Horrorwatch earlier in the year, and it was amazing. Scariest riot scene EVER.

Completely not related, but I just realized that I knew Victorians (no joke - I had two great-grandparents born in the 1890s who lived until I was in high school/college). Weird, considering "The Victorians" were always presented as long-distant when I was in school. Never even thought abt it.

It really made an enormous impact when it came out - Carlos Casteneda's work meant a lot of the popular imagination had 'discovered' indigenous spiritual practices. (I think the 'white guy not taking this spiritual work seriously gets his head fucked up' sub/text works pretty well.) #Horrorwatch

But man, it just has to have the *right* actor, and the *right* director for it to work. (This movie did not have the right actor for it, alas.) #Horrorwatch

:sigh: It's so bad, and the sexual/relationship politics are absolutely infuriating.

Maybe next time we can watch a better one of his movies (Gothic! Attractive actors being Byron, Shelley, and Mary Shelley.) #Horrorwatch

This was about the point in the movie where I started getting more and more irritated, because this is not how genetics works. I think I finally decided that Jessup managed to trigger his latent schizophrenia & the 'devolution' is just in his mind. #Horrorwatch
