I had this thought too, so I compared a 2009 Camry and a 2023 Camry. 3 inches longer, 50lbs heavier. Hm, fatalities doubled between these years. Accord got 2 inches longer, gained 9lbs, fatalities up 80%. Sounds plausible but cars aren't growing as fast as I thought. (I looked at base model, ymmv)

I agree with you that the US drivers are poorly trained, but in my mind that makes it even more important to enforce speed limits. And to set reasonable ones in the first place. The preponderance of stroads and higher speeds inside US cities is bad enough, but then those high limits are exceeded.

Or rather, it caveats the percentage of speeding saying it's limited to winter when speed limits change.

I'm not sure your point works. Finns speed more, but have fewer crashes because they are more skilled. US drivers are bad, so we should not punish speeding? I think speeding would have a bigger effect on a bad driver, no? What is the correct ratio for speeding to contribute to fatalities?

Helpfully, cars come with a gauge that tells you how fast you are going. So easy, even a child could do it! Drive slower, no ticket, not much skill required.

Braking technique (front brake vs back), planning ahead, but I would also emphasize the postives. For me, commuting by bike is both energetic on my way in but also relaxing on my way home. It really helps my mood.

I don't think there's a dividing line at all. Languages sometimes directly translate the meaning of the words like USA, USSR, or UK into their own version, but the names are inconsistent. Russia = Russland = Russie ... Similar, but sound much different. Germany is all over the place.
