There is only one reason Trump directed Bondi to investigate specific names in the Epstein files.

It’s so the DOJ can stonewall growing calls for their full release.

Not long ago, the DOJ declared there was nothing to investigate.

You are witness to the most blatant coverup in American history.

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

"Not only is Donald Trump not here, not negotiating, Mike Johnson has now shut down the House for 39 consecutive days. There's no one to negotiate with. Across town, Trump is building a $300 million ballroom while he is set to let Americans starve."

Cory Doctorow
@doctorow
Replying to @jonrog1

A pathology of conservativism is that 'things used to be simple.' No, you used to be a kid. Your parents shielded you from life's complexity.
Things are complex because you're an adult now. Conservativism is the desire to be a child.

I’m good with my taxes subsidizing social welfare for people who can’t afford food.

I’m enraged with my taxes subsidizing corporate welfare to businesses that won’t pay a living wage.

ICE has been deployed to *provoke* civilians, not to protect them. They want to throw tear gas canisters and get people on the streets riled up, all to create footage for Fox News and Newsmax, et al., that will be used as a pretext for imposing martial law to lower voting rates in Democratic cities.

Today is Day 6 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:

1. Republicans control the White House, Senate and House.

2. GOP making deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and ACA.

3. Democrats are fighting to lower costs, cancel the cuts and save healthcare for Americans.

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.

People making $15-$20/hr can't afford health insurance even if their employer offers it (which is unlikely in that pay range) on top of housing costs, food costs, and transportation costs. The vast majority of adults on Medicaid are already working.

The most common form of censorship is self-censorship.

We should fear not only opinions that are suppressed but also the opinions that are never expressed for fear of suppression.
