Two of those people are in Colombia and are being brought back for it.

They wouldn't answer how many of the 30 people indicted were Venezuelans or how many TdA members are in Colorado. They did say 8 of the 30 were either leaders or in the gang.

And why am I not there?

Feds announce drug and gun charges, then make gang claims they won’t have to prove Monday’s press conference was a repackaging of months of arrest warrants, indictments and superseding indictments as the number of defendants grew.

So the feds had a press conference today announcing they cracked down on the Venezuelan gang TdA. But then none of the actual charges are tied to gangs, RICO or gang affiliations.

Just a little more than 5k Coloradans last year failed background checks to buy weapons. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, which just received an additional $1.4 million for this very purpose, investigated about 90 of these people. That yielded about 30 arrests.

The tl;dr version of all of this is that very, VERY seldom does anyone do anything with this tidy list of people who try to buy guns when they're not supposed to.

This story was a true reporting rabbit hole that started when I looked into how officials treated the failed background check reports created when Mohamad Soliman, the man accused of firebombing people on the Pearl Street Mall, tried to buy weapons for his attack.
