Lots to think about here. Full disclosure… if it’s safer to do so , and there are no pedestrians around, I ride on the sidewalk. That is how I got to live this long !

If we tolerate pedestrians crossing against a red light when no cars are coming — a technically illegal but widespread behavior — why shouldn’t we trust cyclists to exercise similar judgment? They, too, have literal skin in the game.

I have a wonderful Lumos helmet that lights up like a
Christmas tree. The front lights let me see well on dark side roads. The back lights are better than any I’ve seen attached to a fender. I do have to charge it, but I’m bringing my helmet inside anyway so it’s not a hardship.
